FAQs

Are we fully insured and licensed?

Yes, all our Haslemere area-based taxi drivers and vehicles are qualified and licensed through Waverley Council. To get a license we have to take the deepest criminal background check, medical, local knowledge test, taxi driving test, and have a car that passes a rigorous council MOT (much harder to pass than a regular MOT). When a car is 5 years old it then has to have a 6 monthly Council MOT to ensure it is completely safe for the public to be carried in. Insurance for the vehicle is much more expensive than for a private user and includes Public Liability to cover injury to passengers. Every driver carries a Waverley Council badge and the car has a plate on the rear with the license expiry date clearly shown.

How many drivers do we have?

We have 3 full-time Haslemere area-based taxi drivers working from 0730 to 0000 and until 0100 on Friday and Saturday nights. We sub-contract to another 8 drivers and can therefore cover all requests with a bit of notice.

What sort of taxis do we offer?

Our taxis and private hire vehicles (no roof sign) range from saloons and estate cars for 1 to 4 passengers, to MPVs for up to 6, and a mini-bus for 8 passengers. All are clean and comfortable and driven by polite, helpful qualified drivers

What are the prices for Haslemere Independent taxis?

The rules laid down by Waverley Council stipulate fares that start and finish within the council’s area, which stretches from Farnham in the west to Cranleigh in the east and from from Godalming to Grayshott and Haslemere, must be derived from the meter. Journeys which finish outside of this area can either be wholly meter based or a price agreed upon beforehand by the passenger(s) and driver.

Yes,we take all forms of payment, including Amex for a £2 surcharge, within the taxis. Cash and BACS transfers are also accepted.
